About Rio de
Janeiro Olympics 2016.
World Cup 2014
Rio de Janeiro
is expected to be the host of the final match of the World Cup
in 2014. The confirmation as one of the 12 official host cities
in Brazil was announced during the meeting in Nassau (Bahamas)
on 30-31 May 2009, where the FIFA Executive Committee, chaired
by FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter, confirmed the 12 Host
Cities for the 2014 World Cup Brazil. The stage for the final
match in 1950, Maracanã Stadium will have the chance for a “re-matchâ€
since the Brazilian team lost to Uruguay here during the 1950
World Cup.
Olympics 2016 masterplan in Rio de Janeiro
Brazil's economy is now the tenth largest
in the world - and predicted to be fifth by 2016. We are the
world's second biggest food exporter, one of the world's largest
oil and ore producers and the fifth largest advertising market.
Our diverse economy is the engine of South America and one of
the world's top 10 consumer markets. We have the highest levels
of Internet use in the world. The enduring strength of our
economy - even in the current global climate - has enabled the
Government to guarantee the investments needed for the 2016
Games, including direct funding of US$700m for the OCOG.
Organizing the Olympic and Paralympic Games is a major
challenge for any country. It demands knowledge, commitment and
effort across many areas. To fulfill the dream of all
Brazilians, Rio has a team of professionals from diverse areas,
with expertise in the organization of major sports events. Key
members of the Rio 2016 team also worked on the
highly-successful Rio 2007 Pan American and Parapan American
Games.
President of the Brazilian Olympic Committee
and the Organizing Committee of the Rio 2007 Games, Carlos
Arthur Nuzman led the organization of the Rio 2007 Pan American
Games - the best ever Pan American Games, according to Mário
Vázquez Raña, the president of the Pan American Sports
Organization (PASO). This verdict was echoed by the leaders of
many national Olympic committees that took part in the
competition.
In 2007, Rio de Janeiro staged the Pan
American Games and the Parapan American Games in succession,
using the same facilities for both events. This model was
praised by the leaders of the Americas Paralympics Committee (APC),
and will be repeated for the Guadalajara 2011 Pan American
Games.
Consequently, Rio de Janeiro is one of the
few cities of the world to have the experience of organizing two
major multi-sports events one right after the other, which
reinforces the city's bid for the 2016 Olympic Games.
The team preparing Rio's 2016 bid is made up
of former Olympic and Pan American athletes. The team fully
understands the needs of athletes and their families.
The team also counts on international
advisors and is supported by renowned consultants who have
played major roles in organizing previous Olympic Games.
The 2014 FIFA World Cup will be the 20th World Cup, an
international tournament for football, that is expected to take
place between June and July 2014 in Brazil.
This will be the second time the country has hosted the
competition, the first being the 1950 FIFA World Cup. Brazil
will become the fifth country to have hosted the FIFA World Cup
twice, after Mexico, Italy, France and Germany. It will be the
first World Cup to have been held in South America since the
1978 FIFA World Cup in Argentina and the first time consecutive
World Cups have been staged in the Southern Hemisphere. Brazil
also will become the first nation to break the well-established
chain of allowing a European nation to host the World Cup Finals
every eight years.
ação da internet
no mundo. A força permanente da nossa economia - mesmo na actual
conjuntura global - que permitiu ao Governo para garantir os
investimentos necessários para os Jogos de 2016, incluindo o
financiamento direto de E.U. $ 700 milhões para o COJO.
